Travel: Freehand Hotel, New York City
Freehand NYC is the new projects by Freehand group. They already opened hotels in LA, Miami and Chicago prior to this latest project of theirs.
Freehand, unlike all the new boutique hotels lately, is not just rooms with cool interior and colourful graphics. Located in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, Freehand New York is housed in the former George Washington Hotel—once home to many storied writers, musicians and creatives.
Designed by Roman and Williams and featuring custom-commissioned artwork by Bard College students and alumni throughout, they are trying to revitalizing the artistic community in a historic NY neighborhood.
The hotel has a modern mid-century vibe with cool brass lightings, vintage inspired furnitures and nickel glazed tiles. It smartly chooses Loveramics' Bond collection for its all day bar and cafe which goes well with the vibe.
Next time you are in NYC this is a must go. The rooms are roomy and a priced on the higher note (Its the NYC afterall!!!) but don't forget they have an amazing restaurant called Simon & The Whale which serves new american cuisine, and Studio, which is the cool all day coffee bar + eatery.
